30th January - 4th February 2007
"Jagd & Hund"
For the 26th time the traditional "Jagd & Hund" exhibition is taking place in the Dortmund Westfalenhallen from 30th
January to 4th February 2007. For five days everything in Dortmund is revolving around the themes of hunting and fishing.
Tens of thousands of visitors from near and far are pouring into the trade fair halls in order to complete their
collection of equipment, fulfil an old wish, or simply to spend an informative day with friends.
Surrounded by more than 500 exhibitors from 20 countries, Kizlyar participates at this event for the first time.
This year the show covers the largest area in its history and more than 70,000 visitors from Germany and
neighbouring European countries will be flocking to Europe's leading hunting and angling exhibition.
Jenni Dopgen, the manager of Kizlyar Messer (German Distributor) says:
"It is a very interesting show for us. This show gives a great chance to present our knives to hunters and
fishermen. Unlike the knife shows, the hunters here mostly look for knives that they will use, while the
knife collectors look for knives for using as well as decorating their rich collections. Kizlyar knives are
what Germans like - wooden handles, useful shapes and most of them are surprised about the etching, engraving,
but the most important is that knives are made by users for users.
German customers did not know this style of knives before, so Kizlyar knives attracted quite a lot of attention.
At this show there are clear signs that the work we have done before starts paying off - before Kizlyar knives
were completely new here, in Germany, and many would come and look surprised but now people come and recognise us.
Sales have been growing and fortunately or unfortunately we are often out of knives (Laughing)."
Konstantin Kulikov, manager of Kizlyar International Department notes:
"In comparison to Australian and American public, Germans treat hunting a little different. It is important to
dress stylish and nice and many prefer traditional hunting dresses. This is why this fair has a very large number
of booths offering a wide variety of fashionable clothing.
There is also a fashion show at this fair that demonstrates the latest trends in German hunting, fishing and
outdoor clothes. It is also important to locals to have nice and often expensive gear and accessories. Same
goes for guns and knives. This is an important aspect - everything must be useable, but attractive at the
same time."
Three days out of six have passed and the show proven to be very good so far. Tomorrow we are expecting to meet
a group of knife-enthusiasts from German knife forums. Do not forget to come back to our web-site for news
and more pictures.
